Hope HB160 27.5 Mountain Bike
The Hope HB160 has been a long time dream for Hope co-founders Ian Weatherill and the late Simon Sharpand and after years of rumours & speculation, the Hope HB160 has finally arrived! Hope HB160 – Exclusive to 11 UK Dealers We’re proud at Leisure Lakes Bikes to be 2 of only 11 UK dealers chosen to stock the Hope HB160 mountain bike, with one HB160 now available in both our Cheltenham and Daventry stores. Since the Hope HB160 is hand build in Barnoldswick, mass production is not a possibility, making this bike a very limited – and even more exciting if you get your hands on one! Because of the limited supply & extensive manufacturing process, the HB160 is limited to one bike, per stockist, per month – which means if you’re after a particular size & colour finishing kit you’ll need to get in contact with either Leisure Lakes Bikes Daventry or Leisure Lakes Bikes Cheltenham to make sure they can order in the bike you want, and get your name on it! Hope HB160 Mountain Bike Hope saw the opportunity to combine the needs of the frame and component designer into one project, allowing them to uncompromisingly create their vision of the perfect bike. After countless prototypes & drawing board sketches Hope finally landed on their final build – a 160mm travel All Mountain/Trail/Enduro style Carbon bike. This gives Hope access to some of the worlds most talented carbon fibre engineers. The challenge was taking their skill at producing batches of two components, and scaling it up to production quantites. Since Hope’s existing products are manufactured using the processes most companies only use to produce their first prototypes ie CNC machined rather than cast or precision forged, it’s not been an unusual experience for Hope. Mould production has been one of the easiest processes since these are made on CNC machines and they already have a few of these. Cutting and laying up the carbon sheet is quite a labour intensive process, but keeping production on site in Barnoldswick gives Hope total confidence in the quality of parts produced. In the past there have been reservations internally about the safety of manufacturing in carbon fibre and although carbon fibre production is a relatively new process to Hope, with the correct controls & working practices in place, it can be made an extremely safe process. Also by manufacturing in their own factory in the UK, Hope abide to strict health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for their staff.
